A storm counts if any NOAA best-track point with winds of 34 kt (39 mph) or more falls inside Florida's borders — so close offshore passes may not appear even if they caused impacts. Storms from the current season are added as soon as they cross the state, using live National Hurricane Center advisory positions; they're replaced by NOAA's official best-track data after the season.
